What is KHC’s Home Buyer Tax Credit Program?
The Home Buyer Tax Credit program is designed to help low to moderate income families afford home ownership. It allows income eligible homebuyers to claim a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for 25% of the mortgage interest paid per year, up to $2000 maximum. The remaining mortgage interest paid may still be calculated as an itemized deduction. The impactful thing about this credit is that it continues for the “life of the loan” or as long as the homebuyer occupies the property.
